The Family Forum

The Family Forum is the voice for people affected by someone else’s drug and/or alcohol use. The Forum is led by carers and is independent of service providers. It aims to ensure collaboration and partnership working with service providers, the Drug Strategy Team and various policymakers and bodies.

Family Forum members provide objective, independent feedback to service providers and policymakers that are born out of their own valuable, personal experiences. They are able to provide insights and commentary relating to topics such as dual diagnosis, integration of services, confidentiality and access to information, training needs for carers, bereavement through addiction, links with prisons etc.

The Family Forum maintains a partnership approach with Kwads, who provide the Forum with a facilitator to support them.

Kwads values the feedback and input from the Forum members into our service design and continuous improvements. The positive support by service users has help us to maintain a presence in the community.

Kwads also provides the facilitator for the Bristol Bereavement Group which is a specialist groups for families and carers who have lost a loved one through the misuse of drugs and/or alcohol. For more information on this group contact the Kwads office.
