Our Services

Finding out that someone you care about is using drugs or alcohol to cope can be devastating, but you don’t have to face the situation alone. If you are in crisis or struggling to deal with the drug or alcohol use of your partner, good friend, sibling, colleague, parent or child, we can provide advice and support for you.
Kwads exists to ensure that anyone who is struggling to cope with the difficulties, conflicts and despair that occurs when someone within the family misuses drugs and alcohol, can get the expert advice and support they need. We can give you the tools, techniques, knowledge and focus you need to bring about a positive change in your life.

Stage 1 – Care Plan Programme

• Each client receives a full assessment with an experienced Assessor. This one- to-one process helps us to identify client needs and risks, make any referrals for specialist advice and provides an opportunity to talk about situations and concerns.

• A dedicated Support Worker is allocated to each client case and that dedicated worker will provide individuals with ongoing support including via our telephone helpline.

• Each client gets a comprehensive Personal Care Plan that they can use to help them progress and which is reviewed with their Support Worker on a regular basis.

Stage 2 – Skills and Knowledge Programme

• Our 10 week Education Group is a well established and popular training program consisting of 1 evening session a week across 10 weeks. The course looks at themes such as stress, coping, boundaries, and health & wellbeing. It also provides individuals with tools and techniques to cope with difficult situations and emotions.

• We have now launched a series of Themed Workshops based on key topics which our clients have consistently told us are the ones they would like more in-depth information on. Contact the KWADS office for an up to date schedule of times and topics.

• Our new dedicated helpline service offers clients the opportunity to talk with their Support Worker during helpline hours.

Stage 3 – Aftercare Program

• Clients can continue to access the helpline and the support group

• Clients who have been through their programs and are interested in having input into the future design of services in the region can apply to join the Family Forum.

Across all programs we provide a range of training materials which includes a self help manual that client can complete themselves at their own pace.
